Walking it Back

I used to hate(yes, one of my forbidden words now), really hate, being wrong. It was completely inconceivable to me that My argument, such as it was, may in fact be flawed in some way. My facts, I always knew, or thought I knew, were unshakeable. How on earth is ir another person could stand before me and refute what I considered the obvious answer or conclusion?

I see a lot of this attitude today, usually among people quite a bit younger than myself, but interesting to observe in teenagers, young adults (20’s) and even some from those in society more established (my current age). I think the younger people have been idealistically inculcated and facts be damned seems to be the rallying cry of the day. Also, the idea that there is more than one truth. How many times have any of us heard Well, that’s your truth, not mine. whenever I hear that, I just shake my head, embarrassed for the other person, and just retreat to my fortress of solitude where I ponder how people became so stupid in less than a century.

Yes, stupid. I’ve compared this generation today (all of us) in other posts to the movie Idiocracy. It’s been out for a while so you might be able to stream it. If you haven’t seen it, please do ( it’s a comedy). Then come back here and tell me I’m wrong in my assessment. I may be wrong and I am willing to accept that. But if you look at the last two decades honestly, how much progress has really been made (societally)?

When those we consider the smartest in our society refuse yo admit be wrong or fault in any of their conclusions during what they called a crisis in the first place, that placed our very civilization in jeopardy, and we do nothing about it post crisis? We deserve the outcome we get.

No matter what you hear, your relatives and friends: We don’t actually deserve any better. Think about it. We put and allowed these people to stay in power, over us, then we proceeded to ignore the only fact about this administrative state that will ever be true: They will take arms against those they are sworn to protect to remain in power. The first clue? The lies we discover daily and the truth that no one cares about those lies, that corruption.

Of course I can sit here and leave you with the comfort that it’s not to late, we can make radical changes in our government an society as well and then have a post nightmare singalong. Like that person I described in the introduction. If you missed it, I was referring to myself. When I was five or six years old.
