Blog? What’s That?

So, here I am, back at this blog I have for so long told myself that I as going to begin blogging again, yet, until now, failed to keep my own promise to myself. /one reason is clear/; laziness. Ys, I admit I am lazy and tend to procrastinate when can get away with it. This is nothing new, I’ve always been like this but in the past, when I added content to this site, sometimes five or six times a day, it was new and interesting and I’d occasionally receive feedback via comments that would make me want to continue.

I think I can be like everyone else now and blame something or someone other than myself for my lack of content: Yes, I’ll blame, in this case, the panic of 2020 otherwise known as The Pandemic. Yes, that event which, for a point in tie, comletly shut down our country, allowed politicians to make decisions that would ultimately end lives of the elderly in some stat, and the winner? Expose the teachers unions for the criminal organizations they truly are in that they were more interested in taking beach vacations during that time than reopening schools. By the way, what happened to those billions of dollars Congress gave schools for that exact purpose? Anyone ever seen any accounting for any of that money? Me either. RICO, anyone?

Of course, a lot has occurred since then and no, none of those that came out later saying they had misrepresented the severity of the corona virus have been sanctioned in any way (perp walk?). We’ve had elections and more elections and yes, Donald Trump is back in ur lives again. Trump, Trump, Trump. It seems like that’s all we hear about. So let’s talk about Trump for a bit. Just kidding. All anyone needs to do is turn on any of the cable news channel’s to get their fill of US politics. There are channels for those that love Trump and channels for those that hate him. It’s great living in a country where we can see the exact same political story from two completely different points of view. How many other “democracies” have this freedom?

I don’t really care to write politics, as I said, just turn on your television to get all the nonsense you can possibly stand in a singe sitting. Yes, I do turn over to the news, but I refuse to watch more than I need to discover what’s going on in the world that might affect me. Of course, there are times I discover I cannot tune in for even five minutes. Its when the media have decided a particular story requires our twenty four by seven attention. Like recently. I am sorry for this family’s distress, but speculating (and yes, that’s all thats going on) on it hour after hour doesn’t help resolve the situation. So, here I sit, with my flatscreen on the wall on, but tuned to a movie that’s eight yers old and that I’ve watched at least that many times, hoping that the one or two shows I like, coming on this evening, are new and not repeats so that for a short time, I don’t have to think about anything in particular.

Not that my mind is full of drama to begin with. Almost never. Sure, like anyone I have to plan for certain events or even days, but that’’s what I have a calendar for (yes, I still have a paper calendar) and once I’ve scribed on it what I need to, I can put whatever that was aside and move on to the pleasant effort of thinking about nothing. That’ right. Nothing. Of course, people will tell me that it;s impossible not think about something. I’ve been told that even when I’m asleep, my brain is continuing to consider, well, something. When I say I’m not thinking about anything, what I mean is that I’m nt thinking about anything in particular one thing in particular. Stray thoughts occur like, should I have a cup of coffee after dinner? But then once I decide, that thought is gone. Maybe, as now, I look at the TV screen and think that this movie that’s on right now is boring as hell, and so, click, off goes the TV while I’m writing this to you, dear reader.

Yes, I am thinking about this blog right now, but notice, it’s not about anything in particular because, I’m not sure I want to write about specific events that, some which happen far away, don’t tend to affect me. At least directly. That I can tell.

Something I have been doing recently is reaching out to old friends and colleagues, some of whom I haven’t been in contact with for, well, decades. I’ve found two, one on each coast (Florida, Oregon) and it was nice to have a chance to speak with one of them so far. Hopefully, I’ll her more from the other in the near future. In the meantime, here are two or three others I am going to attempt to find that fit the same situation. Sadly, I have discovered two that have passed and yes, both were close friends at one time. It’s sad to lose contact but I know Im not the only one this happens to. Think about those people you were close to as a kid, in high school, college (or not!) and during your earlier work life. Believe it or not, in my entre life, there has been only one person I haven’t been in contact with throughout. others, unfortunately, fell aside.

So, I’m going to attempt to write abut topics that not only interest me, but will hopefully spark your interest as well. Enough to come back again. Maybe even comment on a post whether you like it or not(the rules here are pretty lax, but please read them). I have a couple of ides already for future posts, meaning, hopefully, tomorrow, so please stay tuned.
