”Science” Has Lost It’s Shine With The Public

I’ve always been a strong advocate of science and the Scientific Method in resolving some of the most basic questions concerning not only us, but the world and universe in which we reside. Even as a believer, I had a difficulty accepting some of what Christianity taught. Just go through the bible, old and new testaments, and look at all of the supernatural events that take place. Then ask yourself why these types of interactions with “god” no longer seem to happen anymore. Of course, some will claim they still do, but never are able to provide proof of any kind. When those representing science in industry and government start becoming as trustworthy, making magical claims like a religion or cult, then the public needs to take a hard look at those claiming to represent “science”.

Is Atheism Irrelevant?

It doesn’t seem that long ago, at least to me, when atheism was in the news and controversial, at least in some people’s eyes. Today, it appears to have completely vanished from the social conversation completely. Is that for the good or not? Does it really matter that atheism remain in the spotlight and contentious with mainstream society? Well, aren’t we, atheists, part of mainstream society? If not, how not?

It’s Not as Serious as You May Believe

I’m glad the election is over and I can now come back here and write something beyond Washington politics. I even came to the point earlier this year where I could not bear to view any of the cable channels because, well, it seemed to me all any of them reported on all day, was the coming presidential election. Refreshing not to have to go through hours of nonsense speculation by so-called “experts” when there are other things going on in the world.

Trump in the Bronx

I watched some of the recent Trump rally in the Bronx. Nothing new here from Trump, these rallys are always a version of the Make America Great Again meme. Don’t grt mer wrong, he;s a good speaker, and encourages the crowds he receives, but not much news comes out of any of them. Except in this case, the rally itself became news. Not because of content, because of location.

I had a delivery mde to my home where, since I am a little under the erather right now, I asked the guy to com in and set it n the table fr me. I then thanked him where he replied “you’re welcome”, not an unexpected resomse but then he went on to say, You have a blessed day. I thanked him again and didn’t really consider the encounter unti later whn I wondered why he said that. To me.
