It’s time for someone to say it, just in case anyone is unsure. Charlie Kirk is dead. There. I said it. It’s horrible what happened to him and hopefully, his murderer will see justice. The reason I’m saying this now is from shear exhaustion from seeing all of the posts abut him or his widow. I don’t care about what Erika is doing or might do and I’m vertain that Charlie is not looking down on us from heaven.

I see Christians in my X timeline all the time. Some of them are cordial, others are well, the “hell and damnation” types that want to warn everyone that unless we all follow their god, their way, well, we will not have a happy afterlife. If you believe in that nonsense to begin with, then you might take a breath and consider changing your entire life to live by a philosophy that out of 270 million that identify as Christian in the United States, only about 5% of those are considered active in their belief. They must be the ones I see on X(probably not).

I almost never debate Christians about their faith or my lack thereof. Why? It’s because when I ask for objective proof of what they say, I receive the same old evidence: The Bible Tells Me So. Of course, some use other sources, but those sources they quote are mostly apologists, people paid to reconcile faith with fact (poorly) and for those that need to justify their faith. Other sources they use, to their benefit are scientific: archeology mainly, but then, non one is arguing that Babylon didn’t exist, or that Nazareth didn’t exist. what we’re discussing is the idea of a god, and in particular, Jesus.

Occasionally, I’m asked why I focus my religion-oriented writing toward Christianity. Do I have a specific animus towards Christians or their beliefs? Well, no to both. It’s really very simple: Christianity is the religion I came from and it’s the largest identified religion in the United States. By identified, I mean, most Americans identify as Christian, whether they actually practice it or not.

Once in a while, I like to take a look at the state of religious belief where I live, the United States. I don’t really think it changes much overall, but it’s always been curious to me how we who live here identify as a Judeo-Christian nation when that couldn’t be further from the truth. If we could be identified with any belief, it would be a Christian nation because out of the 350 million people that live here, some 66% identify as Christian. That’s 231 million Christians. More than any other country in the world.
