The title is a question, I sometimes receive, even from other atheists. I really never have a good answer and I do try to get the question clarified. It seems that it’s more about politics than anything else although some see atheism from more of a humanism perspective. It’s well known that generally atheists, vote more librtal than conservative. In the U.S., that translates ro more votes for candidatess in the Democratic party. Do atheists all vote the same because they all 9majority) vote for one party?

Thw squeaky wheel…in this casw progressivism has indeed infected atheists tog the degree thar these same people bEgan feeding upon one another when they ran out of other prey. I you’re wondering, there was an attempt to create a new, social justice infused atheist which was known as “Atheism Plus”. Of course this rook place during what I refer to as The Schism. That states pretty specifically thar in thar case, yes, there were lemmings, but it hardly included all atheists and of that number that did join up, many later regretted it . Some of the initial proponents denied ever having anything to do with this “movement”.

I know it may suprise some to learn that being a democrat does not necessarily mean a person votes one way, I know people that have (gasp!) voted for a repuablican or independent now and then. Thw same way as republicans vote. In fact, it’s interesting to note that when anyone thinks of atheists and democrats, it might be noted that alll democrats aren’t “progressive”, again, like republicans are not all “far right” Some may be surprised to know that most people, yes, even atheists, are somewhere in between.

Atheists are not unlike any other individual, or group in that some are looking for direction that is believed to come from a single voice. Something I like about being an atheist is that instead of having a sinle guide, we are, in fact, all voices. All of us can be guides in one way or another. No one person speaks for me. We have a ways to go but it’s time we rid ourselves of bring viewed as lemmings.
