Why Not RFK, Jr.?

RFK, Jr. has been receiving some significant press since he began his challenge to President Biden for the democratic nomination. He has one huge disadvantage and it has nothing to do with any conspiratorial theories he may tout, but the fact that the democratic nomination is currently rigged in favor of Biden. It’s not unusual for the current office holder to have no challengers, but Biden? Sixty percent of democrats want someone else.

Thar someone else does not include current Vice President Kamala Harris. A couple of names bandied about in the media are two governors: Newsome of California and Whittmer of Michigan. What’s really crazy to me is people proffering those two is how they are viewed as Chief Executive of their state, Gavin Newsome has shepherded California through the worst rise in crime, ever. For the first time in it’s history, the steward of California has lost two Congressional seats due to what continues to be the Great Mass Exodus.

Gtretchen Whitmer is no better with maybe the exception she hasn’t lost any Congressional representation under her leadership. Of course, she still has the problems of every leader in a democrat run state: crime. All states have these issues but it’s the way stares and cities respond to issues (including education) that is determinant on how the state is viewed overall.

What’s really interesting is that Newsome, for as poor a leader he seems to be, easily survived an effort to recall him as governor. Whittmer? Probably one of the most divisive, easily won reelection.

I never thought, in the end, thar Biden would defeat Trump, for obvious reasons. I gig suspect it might be close because Trump’s unfavorables remained high throughout his term. So it wasn’t an overwhelming surprise for me when Biden won. Now a majority of those having voted for him, are experiencing buyer’s remorse.

So how bad could RFK, Jr. be? Son of Robert F. Kennedy, who probably would have won the 1968 election, not just because he was John’s brother, but because his presidency would probably have changed the outcomes of so many poor decisions of the past. Yes, I was a fan.

Robert Jr. is not a “politician” in the way we think of those. Like Trump, he has his own idea and, like Trump, probably despises the establishment politicians an bureaucrats. At least he sounds like he does.If there is a challenge on the democrat side, if voters don’t want just another version of what they have now, Bobby, Jr. is the right choice,
