I didn’t blog yesterday. Everyone needs a day off, right? Well, that’s really not the reason. I couldn’t think of any more dumb stuff to say about anything. The news, overall, is depressing, and after a while, I think we all need to just walk away from it for a while to regain our sense of proportion and sanity, So, I did something I very rarely do on the weekend: I watched the news.

i tuned in to the all-Trump, all day, news channel (which is really all of them, isn’t it?) Some of them spew hate and derision, and at least one is the forlorn lover. That channel was in the middle of showing live, a Trump rally with the man. himself speaking. I wasn’t paying attention too much at first because I was expecting a lot of woe is me, stuff, you know, about all the legal issues. But if he mentioned them at all, I must have missed that part of the show. Yes, watching a Trump rally is pure entertainment. At least for me.

He was, in fact discussing all of the positive changes he’d make domesticlly and in foreign policy, while highlighting what a disaster the Biden administration has been and that not only would it be disastrous for us to elect Biden to another four years as he systematically dismantles the Republic, but the next few months, leading up to the election, were equally worrisome. The cheers from the crowd were overwhelming and the few shots of the crowd present looked to be huge.

It was huge. I mean larger than most rock concerts or any other type of entertainment (Super Bowl) event you can imagine. I guessed there had to be twenty or more thousand people there (reality sunk in) but then, as the rally ended and commentary began from the studio, it became obvious my guess fell far short. “Short” being the underestimation of the year. These people were saying the crowd extimates were, hang on, between eighty and one hundred thousand. I’m glad they said that a second time because I thought I had misheard. then I thought through the remainder of that show that, well, this is the one channel that is consistently pro-Trump, But that’s not the real lede, which I’ve intentionally buried here: This rally took place is New Jersey, not exactly known for being MAGA Country.

I was still skeptical until, yes, I turned on the news this morning, to a different channel, and they were reporting the same numbers and how that should scare democrats. If New Jersey goes for Trump in November, what’s stopping a complete landslide? I can’t wait to see all the Trump Derangement on Monday. you can bet there’ll be some in the media colluding with the Biden campaign to find something to either force Trump out of the race, or convince the elctorate that Biden rally isn’t the very definition of an autocrat and tyrant. Good luck with that because we have 3.5 years of evidence otherwise and these other “news” channels have lost most of what we might call credibility anyway.
