As an outsider, it’s interesting to sit back and watch the total meltdown of conservatives online and of course, in the news. The left wing news just loves all the controversy that is happening on the rightt. In fact, they seem to be driving it more than attempting to explain what is going on,
There are two different battles going on right now but they are irrevocably tied together. I’ve mentioned both in posts but I think the way these are rending themselves, they deserve further comment. I wrote about the conflict within the U.S. Commission on Religious Freedom and Carrie Prejean Boller’s, “dismissal” from that board by it’s chairman, Dan Patrick over comments she made about Israels treatment of Palestinians, especially in the Gaza strip. This is ongoing and I would recommend anyone interested to search in YouTube for the relevant videos. There are points made on both sides but one sie seems extremely heavy on disrespect toward the other. Can you guess which side that. might be?
The other has to do with an interview by Tucker Carlson with our Ambassador to Israel. This ine has had the Internet in flames. This one has angered a lot of people that have tsaken the side of Huckabee to the level of using noting but personal attacks, not only on Carlson, but anyone that attempts to take his point of view. This one, I believe, will not end nicely for anyone.
I think that in both, it’s important to listen to both sides. There are valid points made with some good arguments and of course, there’s the ones you just want to skip because they are nothing but name calling and irrational clap-trap (Can you hear me Mark Levin?). If you want to convince someone, as we all know or should, the argument needs to be made from reason and facts, not emotion because of any ethnic or religious values you might bring to the argument.
It’s easy to look at right versus wrong if you have no horse in the race. I don’t, so I find some more compelling than others, but there are good people with good intentions on both sides. Ignore the others. They have nothing to add but hate and division in what is sirely an important issue today.
