I find it incredible that people who have honest disagreements with government policy, are voraciously attacked online (and in the media!) simply for having an opposing point of view. And it’s curious as to who the leaders of this wired lynch mob are right now. As simple question: Is it possible to be against a. policy of your country and not be considered a traitor, or some sort of ethnic or religious bigot? If you’re a high profile commenter ? The attack dogs swarm and level all sorts of accusations, not by reason, but ad hominem, to attempt to take these alternative points of view off the air. Does this sound familiar historically?

I always say that those that cannot support their point of view with facts that everyone can accept, resort to ad hominem attacks to those that disagree with their view. There are several in the media right now and all you have to do is look at social media to discover who they are and who they’re attacking with vile speech. There may be one or two, possibly all, that once held wide respect to their audiences (Did I mention, these are media-types as well?). It’s in times like these, where the government doesn;t have overwhelming support for a policy, that these are most active because, well, if you don’t support the policy, you must be some sort of traitor, or at minimum, fifth columnist.

I believe a person can support the leader of their country without having to agree on every policy position. But can we have a fair discussion of differences when a foreign entity is involved on one side of the debate? And if, of course, it’s pointed out to those that support whatever policy that they’re being duped by another power – that our country’s leaders have been tricked into believing that unless the policy iss implemented immediately, devastation(I know that may be hyperbole) is just around the corner and, here’s the proof.

We’ve seen this act before, in a different play. A play about an evil ruler that was going to do bad things to his neighbors if he were not stopped. So our best are deployed to ensure that this evil ruler never gets a chance to threaten his neighbors only to find out that there was no threat after all. Confirming the lie cost 4,500 lives and ten times(or more!) of that wounded. And, yes, the same country that is providing us the information about an immenent threat, provided that information as well. What’s the adage? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool mr twice, shame on me.

Of course the naysaying-naybobs are playing the Baghdad Bob Game. Nothing to see here! When it’s obvious to everyone what is actually happening right in front of their noses. When we have supposed influential voices playing that game, the game only ends in disaster and of course those same people will deny any part in the outcome. They only care about one country, and that country is not ours, no matter how loud or offensive they become. In fact, the truth becomes more obvious the louder and more offensive they are.
