Yes, There’s a Loyal Opposition

I watched a great debate recently on one of my favorite youTube channels having to do with the Iran conflict. The debate was very stimulating and to some degree, informative.I was aware of one of the guests position because he has his own channel and discusses Iran a lot lately. The other genterlman (and I use that term loosely) was unknown to me and he kept trying to make points by ad hominem attacks, mostly. As we all know, this is the last desperate gasp of those that have no argument to make and nowadays we are witness to a. lot of the coming from, well, that side of the debate.

We all know what that it of course: Trust the president, he knows exactly what he’s doing. That may be true but isn’t apparent in recent days. If we go back to the beginning of this kinetic action, we were told it was going to be quick because it wouldn’t take long for the Iranian people to rise up and break the shackles of the current regime. We, along with the Israeli Air Force, are into the fourth week of constant bombing. Earlier today, the U.S. attacks surpassed 8.000. Read that again. The regime itself is supposedly in turmoil as their leadership have been decimated by Israel. Where are the people?

There are a lot of questions, like that one, that this guy was unable to answer. Not to mention, and it was, about the Iranian army and the Republican Guard, which w haven’t heard much about either Israel of us attacking during thee weeks. Together, this is about 1.5 million people in arms. Even if 80% of them defect, that still leaves a substantial number of armed loyalists to fight to free the country. Another force are the people themselves. It’d estimated that probably 205 of those are loyalists. That’s another nearly twenty million people that are not going to accept any change easily. And again, the one guest could not answer any of this except, of course, to personally attack him. How will the president continue to try to keep the confidence of the country when the least of his acolytes are unable to argue for a positive outcome to what appears now to be a disaster in the making.

What’s really awful is that for some people, being against war is tantamount to being treasonous! There is no longer anything called loyal opposition as against a clearly impulsive, adventure in the Middle East, cannot be a patriotic stand anyone may take. If you spend anytime on social media, you’ll see calls for imprisoning certain freelance media personalities that dare to find any fault in a strategy clearly created by Cub Scouts. We’re lucky, in my view, the U.S. has not lost more troops in the region. Of course, with the way the administration is conducting this air campaign, no one is sure that casualties are being reported honestly. Think about it.

Is it too late yo just pack up and walk away? Yes, it is. It was too late after the first bombs dropped in Iran. It’s called saving face, not just for our own people, but those that would hope the America is around to help them out when there was a real need. We are losing the confidence of the world right now. We need to regain that quickly. the only way to do that now, is to win. Decisively.
