It’s Not Good vs Evil

Does not calling someone out for something they say indicate the you support what they say? There’s a saying, silence is consent, but is it? It can be for instance if a person is aware of someone else’s awful behavior, yet said nothing about that person because they believed it really wasn’t their business. Well, we could say that about a lot of things couldn’t we? The parents abusing their own child next door, someone we work with that has harassed other workers and would be fired if discovered, but no one is willing to step up and take responsibility, to finally, a close ally that seeks to commit the most horrible crimes against it’s neighbors and we are all witness to because of the available technology.

I’m not just referring to Israel and Gaza now, although that’s a perfect example, but how about the same incursion into its northern neighbor, Lebanon, the operation called Eternal Darkness. If you’re a Christian, the phrase should have special meaning for you because it’s in your New Testament as a reference to Hell. That’s right, Israel intends hell for Lebanon.

If the genocide in Gaza didn’t phase you, just the name of this operation should at least shock you out of your sleep. We can have sympathy and desire the best for Jews and the Jewish state based on at lest 2,000 years, of struggle where the Holocaust in the mid 20th century had at least western society reevaluate themselves as to Jews. The doesn’t mean we should allow Jews or anyone else to attempt to wipe out an entire ethnicity. We look around the world and regularly, openly, criticize similar actions in other places.

In my entire life, I can’t recall a time where there was peace around the world. No, I don’t live in a Star Trek fantasy but doesn’t it make sense that we should be able to learn from our own past? History does repeat itself , if we allow it. We allow it by denying history and denying ourselves as well. Right now, we’re fighting a war, not about good versus evil, but about hegemony in the Middle East and who will control world economies henceforth.
