I don’t like admitting it, but I am a technology addict. I can’t belive how dependent I’ve become on all of these devices. And me? I can’t just have one of something, I have to have, well, several. This iPad I’m typing on right now? It’s one of, (ahem!) 4 that I own. I also have a tablet made by someone else tht I think runs the google Os, but I don;t use it much because I like the Apple tablets a lot more. Yes, I have an iPhone s well. That’s probably the device I can ignore easier than any other.

What’s happened to us? Yrd, if you’re reading this then you too have at least a tiny problem with technology. Here’s something not so funny: I discovered that since I only write here at a keyboard, and have only written via keyboard for several years, I discovered I can barely wrote by hand anymore.Not just cursive, but block lettering. So guess what I’ve been doing? Yes, like a 7 year old, practicing my writing ability (do they still do tht in school?). I actually purchased some college ruled notebooks and pend and pencils to practice doing something i was completely successful with for most of my life but that I seem to have lost because for several years, with the exception of signing my name, I have almost never picked up a pen. Notice above I said i bought pens and pencils because I had none in my house.

It’s not just computer equopment either. I haveTV’s in my living room, den (home office) and bedroom. Why And is it possible I am not getting the amount of sleep I require because I sit up into the late evening staring at a TV screen? Most likely. Of course all of this leads to the latest =/greatest appliances for the kitchen to make the chore of making meals less burdensome and of course faster in these days when no one seems to have time to sit down ar =t home for a decent meal. Then why have them? Well, I guess they look good on the counter. Honestly, I do use them but not daily. For instance,I have a very expensive countertop mixer that, gulp, I’ve never used. Why did I buy it? I thought I might actually take up some simple baking – for which I could have paid 20-30 dollars for a mixer. While you’re laughing at me (or with me) =, take a look around your own residence and tell me that everything in there outside of the basics are needed. I find very little (in other words, thousands of dollars wasted) on stuff.

Of course, it’s nice to have stuff. We even compare our stuff to other people’s stuff and if we don’t measure up? Guess where we’re headed the very next weekend?
