Atheists always point to the Christian holy text as a book of stories and myths that although may have some view on morality, in fact are just that, no different than Grimms Fairy Tales. Of course there are Christians that too do not necessarily take every story in the Old Testament as being truth, but merely a metaphor. If only they’d look at their New Testament the same way.
I saw an article today, from of course a conservative website (hey! i’m a conservative and I peruse those sites!) that described a new museum opening in Washington D.C. No it has nothing to do with atheists, or Muslims, or Hindus. In fact it’s a museum that will perpetuate the falsehood that America is a Judeo- Christian Country.
When I’m on social media, I often see Christians tweeting some particular scripture when attempting to make a point about some social or political topic. Seeing this would make anyone think that these people are well versed (no pun intended) in the bible. But are they?
I received an interesting comment from this post that started me thinking about whether or not the bible is an historical document. Certainly there are names and places within the book that have been verified by historians and archeologists, but should the bible be considered, overall, history?
