I think it’s important to know what you’re talking about – even a little bit – before you open your mouth.
What i see from most, so-called “skeptics” is that they don’t. What they do is buy in to their favorite news site, and just believe what they’re told.
As a conservative, I don’t do that. I want to hear as much as I can on any story. This has nothing to do with being a conservative, but being a skeptic. Yes, you so-called “progressives”, you’re who I am referring to in this case.
I can’t believe the incredible stupid I see on line daily. Yes, this may be you. You’ll read a story on your favorite website, or on TV or radio, and be sucked in without a moment where you stop and say “Is this true?”.
It’s because, as Ive written time and again, you allow your personal ideology to interfere with your brain. Hell, I’m really starting to think that most of you are 9/11 “truthers” and Bigfoot advocates. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of you advocating for “Ancient Aliens”.
That’s what you appear to be to me. What do you think you appear to be amongst those that don’t proclaim skepticism? Going to leave you with one word: stupid.
Conservative Skeptic 
What percentage of the self-labeled progressives who also consider themselves skeptics do you think fit the description you discuss above? Can you provide an example or two of what you describe. Perhaps you could share the example or examples that motivated you to write this piece. Are there no conservatives who also fit what you describe? If there are, then why are you focusing on progressives here?

It would be interesting to see a survey or some research on this. Is there a correlation between political affiliation or ideology and belief in Bigfoot or the 9/11 truthers. Are liberals or conservatives more likely to be skeptics? If so, why? Or is there no connection at all? I suspect that a larger percentage of those who self-identify as conservatives are more likely to 9/11 truthers or believe in such things as Big Foot. But there are also those topics that seem to draw a larger number of liberals who seem to leave their skepticism behind. These include GMO’s and nuclear energy.

Though this also does not directly connect to your main point, I think it provides some insight into the subject. There is research that shows a difference in the way that conservatives and liberals respond to scientific evidence and the influence or lack of influence of education on their views about scientific issues, such as global warming and climate change. Conservatives are far more likely to deny the global climate change science than are liberals. And they do so because of their political ideology.
