Finders Keepers?

It’s amazing for me to see, on X, the reaction of many to Tucker Carlson’s interview with Israel Ambassador, Mike Huckabee. Most (99% or maybe 99.8%) are hateful takes on Carlson , referring to him as an antisemite, Jew hater, and more that are believe it or not, mpre hateful than these. I watched the interview not looking at it as a debate as it appears many here have.It was more of a discussion with both making good points. depending on the topic, but overall, when I see people remark as if it were a competiton of some sort, I see a failure in what I think they lost in the video.

Suffice to say that not all Americans support Israel. Yes, that true. Many could care less about the middle east in it’s entirety. Some that do support Israel do not like being referred to as Zionists in that they do not believe that any one group has a right to any particular bit of land, anywhere. Example” North America. Better example” The entire history of the middle east from befpre the Hebrews until today where that tiny patch of land has been fought over by local as well as foreigners, for millennia.

English, French, Spanish and Portuguese conquered the Americas beginning in the early 16th century. There were people already here. Those europeans didn’t care. Before the europeans, people like Mayans, Aztecs, etc. lived and conquered lands around them becoming immense empires. Even in little North America, there is evidence of an early people, called the Hopewell people, who prospered for nearly 1,000 years, and around 900 years prior to Columbus. Those empires disappeared and other have taken their place. For now. Who knows what borders, if any, will exist in a thousand years?

In the Middle East, many countries we are familiar with today didn’t exist until after the First World War. These include Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and of course, Palestine. The Kingdom of Saudia Arabia? 1932. Do any of these people claim historic ownership? Maybe, but their history is shorter than ours in the United States. Does anyone have a right to any land, any where? Even Israel, if we are to believe the Old Testament was taken from people that were already there. The Hebrew people conquered the land that they say was given to them by their god. No different, it seems that the European conquering of the Americas, for god and king. None are exempt from change over time. As much as we’d like to think that it won’t ever happen to us, time will only tell.
