I’ve been [paying attention to the Tyler Robinson preliminary trial. Well, sort of.I’m not that interested as some are that I have spent all day watching the court room proceedings. Heck, even watching four or five minutes of it on television or online is enough to put me to sleep. nothing dramatic. No Perry Mason” or “Law and Order” courtroom moments. Just dull presentations, with even duller (is that a word?) “witnesses” giving testimony about literally nothing.

Tell me if I’m wrong but it looks to me like the only evidence the prosecution has that Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk is a confession. Now, we may think that’s enough and if that’s true, then why all the circus-like atmosphere surrounding what appears to be just a straightforward murder. It’s the kind of thing that happens daily in our country. Was Charlie Kirk that influential to garner more attention in death than he did life? No offense to anyone out there that may have known or been a friend of Mr. Kirk, but my perspective is I see him as just another political operative and – good for him – he was very successful at his chosen career path. Or so I’m told.

So, to me the question isn’t really about who killed Charlie Kirk, but why? Is it because he espoused a form of Christian Nationalism that offends some people (even Christians)? Or was it that he was effective in convincing young people to take another look at conservatism, in the form of the Republican Party? Maybe, and here’s where the conspiracy theorists come in, it’s because he was breaking ties with Zionists, believing that Israel had gone too far in it’s response (the government of Israel, not the people) to the Oct 2023 attack? It could be any one of the above. It could also be that Charlie Kirk was shot and killed by a psychopath without any political or religious grievances. the shooter, whoever that might be, just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I personally don’y believe the latter, but it should be on the list.

No matter what happens, this is the kind of even that doesn’t just fade away. Like the JFK assassination, or the 9/11 attacks, people will talk about September 10, 2025 for years to come and as time proceeds, the conspiracy theories, no matter the outcome of any trial, will continue as whispers. there’ll be books written, documentaries produced. But no matter what, the question should always come back to why. If you know why something occurred, then you can more easily discover who or what caused the event to happen in the first place. Of course, the longer this plays out, the more money the networks, and of course the YouTube hosts covering this make because all of them have a theory, and for every one I can find that believes Tyler Robinson’s guilty, there are another 3 or 4 that have a different take to the degree that Robinson was just a patsy. Or he was one of at least 2 shooters. Or…?

JFK, our 36th President, was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Sixty-Three years later, after dozens of books and probably that many documentaries, not to mention the having the full Hollywood take on it, people are still arguing over who killed JFK. And mores today than ever, why. Maybe in the case of the death of Charlie Kirk, authorities should begin with the why and worry less about a quick conviction, because that will just feed the conspiracists even more.
