I saw a story today I at first didn’t believe, because it seems like this threat occurs all the time. Well, during presidential election year. But as the story continued, I finally accepted that it was indeed true. It’s nothing I hadn’t really heard before, well, except in this case, the threat was actually carried out. It seems ike every 4 years we hear from people that say if a Republican is elected, they are going to leave the country. Well, maybe that’s only been since the trump era, but it seems longer to me. In fact, at least 2 celebrities I can think of did in fact leave the country in 2025 due to their Trump Derangement Syndrome. I have now discovered that there were a whole lot more. For instance, some 245 Americans fled to Canada seeking asylum or some other form of protection fearing polices implemented by the newly elected Trump administration might adversely affect them. The Netherlands had 76 Americans show up specifically looking for asylum. Of those that fled to the Netherlands, none have been granted asylum to date and unlike the U.S. which takes the persons information and releases them into the interior of the country, the Netherlands places those people in confinement behind barbed wire fences and in tents. I think Canada is mostly like the U.S., releasing people into the country until their claim can be processed. So far, out of the original 245, less 20 were approved. Most seem to have been either abandoned or withdrawn. Some of those staying are discovering they are not better off than they were in the U.S. Regrets are coming hard. I can’t imagine what those tent dwellers think after a year or more in the Netherlands.
