It’s always been a source of humor for me when I see a news story concerning another Jesus or Virgin Mary sighting. I’ve read about them and also seen them on national news broadcasts. It’s kind of funny to me that Jesus would appear on a piece of toast or a bun of some sort. Even that he would be seen as a cloud formation.
When I see a creationist criticize atheists as those people that believe that the universe was created from nothing, even though I’ve heard this for decades, I still shake my head. How is anything created from nothing? Yet, these same people persist in their false accusation because it fits the narrative, from their text, of how the universe came into existence.
When I’m on social media, I often see Christians tweeting some particular scripture when attempting to make a point about some social or political topic. Seeing this would make anyone think that these people are well versed (no pun intended) in the bible. But are they?
People always ask why atheists concentrate so much on Christianity and not on any other religion; notably Islam. I’ve been considering writing on Islam, and it’s not that I have a fear of offending anyone, it’s just a question, for me, of how to present it properly; to give as an objective view as I’m able. What is the purpose of having online or even face-to-face discussions with Christians? I personally don’t think they’re very productive for either person and I really don’t think that anything I am able to say to a believer is going to suddenly convince them that what they believe is nonsense.
