Hating People You Don’t Know

Social media, for me, is not as important as it used to be, or maybe I’ve realized it mostly a drag on time where I could be doing something, anything, else. When I’m looking at Twitter, however, I sometimes get ideas for posts. It doesn’t happen as much as it used to, but it does happen. Like this one. One thing I do, I don’t know why exactly, is when I see a tweet that interests me is I look at the biography of the tweeter or re-tweeter. Not that I’m looking for like minded people, just getting a feel for who this person is and possibly why they tweeted. I recently saw a tweet that really caught my attention and I was going to reply until I looked at the biography which stated that she hated the GOP. Whenever I see something like that I wonder why a person would have that opinion of an entire party of people, people that are individuals and not necessarily programmed to all think alike. It’s not the first time I’ve found this on Twitter, although it may reflect Republican rather than GOP. Is this some sort of indoctrination or is there some real reason these people hate members of this particular political party? Maybe one day, I, or someone else will ask, but I suspect the answer would be nonsensical.
