When You Consider it…

No one cares what you think or say. There, I said it and if you don’t believe it’s true, try getting your head out of the toilet and look around. Unless you are one of those known as an “elite”, your voice has no amplification, and even then, being an elite, it depends on what you’re trying to say.

One of the great things about being an atheist is that once that’s become known, people are either really curious about your choice to be anatheisa, or they couldn’t care less. Either way is fine with me. It’s think it’s amazing in the first quarter of the 21st century that atheists still have to be in the closet (not only in the U.S. but other countries as well). Hiding your non-belief in the U.S. is strange to me. It really never occurred to me that I might receive some sort of backlash for being atheist and that just the fact that I didn’t believe in any supernatural beings might not only affect my life directly(work and social), but those I loved as well.

But I carried on, and many others I know of have done the same. We’re just tired of trying to hide something that has no effect on our morals or ethics and it just seems stupid to allow others that have been propagandized for decades to continue to believe that we are somehow less than they are. Some believers have decided to come out of the Middle Ages and try to understand who we are and why we don’t believe. It’s a small number from my point of view and that’s because, when it really comes down to grass roots arguments, the fact some depend on there being a bad guy in the story in order for them to collect from the poor and indigent.

Look around and see if there are any tele-atheists on the television daily or weekly asking people to send in their last nickel for a blessing to become rich, or healed, or, well, blessed by allowing the pastor to buy a 4th private jet. Know any atheists like this? Of course not. I would love it if I could write a screed like this and suddenly there was a million dollars in my account. But I’m not an atheist, or a blogger, to make money. I’m here for myself, and maybe a few others, that either won’t or can’t speak for themselves.

You see, we’re just as angry as you are. We just have nothing supernatural to blame for our issues.
