Topics Off Limits in Saudi Arabia

A Saudi woman was recently sentenced to prison for 34 years. Her offense? Terrorism? No. Insurrection? No. Theft, murder, rape, or any of the many violent acts a person may commit? No. She was sentenced for tweeting and retweeting about…women’s rights. Read the thread. But since she’s a Saudi citizen, shouldn’t she be aware of those topics that may be out of bounds? I’m not blaming the victim here, just asking a question. I mean, even we bumpkins in the west know how little the Saudi’s tolerate anything that might anger or embarrass them. It’s difficult to come out of the 7th century.
