It’s Actually Good to be an Atheist, Nowadays

There are days I think I spend too much time online. I sometimes have to force myself to walk away and attempt to be productive. But the lure of the siren is always there, just across the room, maybe sitting quietly in another, but still there, ever so alluring, knowing it won’t be long before I’m there behind the keyboard, checking to make sure the world hadn’t ended while I was away. I know that sounds a little over dramatic, and it’s meant to be, in a way, to demonstrate how much many of us have become dependent on those social media applications and our race making the cleverest, and smartest, post of the day. We all complete to Win the Internet, even if it’s just for the day.

There is more of a reason to step away from social media every once in a while for more than personal mental health. Lately, the posting has become rather rabid, meaning, that there’s no holding back now for anyone, especially if you happen to not take a side. Yes, we’re back to taking sides on positions and even of you were a supporter of Trump at one point, doesn’t mean you’re not just because you happen to disagree with policy. In this case, it’s policy that kills people. Right now, some of these are attempting to purge the Republican Party of all of those that would die question. It’s about a war that’s not a war, some files from a long dead pedo[hile, and the curious way that the recent (last year) murder of a prominent Trump supporter that has brought out a lot of just plain meanness in people. I’ve been guilty of being mean back to some of these morons.

What’s curious to me is that these people that want others cancelled not just from the net, or probably their livelihoods, but also their very lives. Yes, there have been popular right wing voices all but calling for the elimination of certain people. Of course, there’s nothing specific, but it’s easy to read the malice into what people are writing for thousands to see. No, these people are nt the usual suspects of conspiracy theorists we’re used to seeing and hopefully, dismissing,. No these are good, faithful, Christians.

That’s right. The majority of the hateful posts I see on X come from people that claim to be faithful christians. and wouldn’t say a bad word about anyone unless…Even if those others are faithful as well. it’s not good enough because their faithfulness does not meet whatever standard is being set with the tanker and, yes, epithets. I don;t believe that most of these people re in fact Christians, and especially not evangelical. I can’t imagine a pastor or preacher looking at what’s being posted by some of their congregants and thinking they were working in Jesus’ name.

These behaviors make me happy I am an atheist. No-one can say I am any kind of hypocrite because what you see (hear or read) is what you get. I don’t act one way online, and completely differently in front of family and friends. Especially, you know, those special friends you only see on Sunday mornings. this is where you come across to all the meet you as one of those meek that will inherit the earth, not the mean, spitting, snorting, evil, epithets tossing person that you actually are. Please don;t tell em I bound for hell, because, dear Christian, it’s you that’s headed for the worst of the worst situations. And no, you don”have to dies to have sentenced yourself there.
