As I write this, the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran that was supposed to end tomorrow, has just been extended by our president, indefinitely because Pakistan, the host for the negotiations, asked for an extension. That’s right, there’s no time limit associated with it and the excuse is that Iran has not made any proposals of their own and the U.S.will give them time to(47 more years, I guess) come up with a response to the U.S. proposals over the kinetic action (not a war) with Iran. This is what’s called saving face.
It’s clear in recent weeks since this adventure began, that president Trump wanted out of it as soon as possible and believed, as he was told by his advisors, that an air campaign such as it has been, would bring Iran to it’s knees, begging for peace. But that hasn’t happened and the president of the first week the proclaimed nothing short of unconditional surrender, is now looking for conditions that he can live with and save face to his base (and Congress) at the same time. And with a wide-open window, there’s no telling how long Iran will attempt to delay the negotiations. If Trump were being Trump, there would be no extension and he would tell the Pakistani government to go pound sand.
I’m not for war. This one was a bad decision made on poor advice. I haven’t seen any of the cheerleaders in the White House fired over it. Maybe the president is waiting until this has become no more than a bad dream before he quietly clears his stuff of Zionists that want nothing but conflict in the Middle East until Israeli hegemony has become dominant in the region. In any case, the president’s in a bad spot right now and he’s bombed and spoken himself into a corner. It doesn’t;t look like there’s going to be anything that looks like an unconditional surrender by Iran and using the excuse of resting and rearming the military, as well as placing more forces in the region, just doesn’t hold up to the light of day.
Right now on Fox, they’re making every excuse possible for the president and are trying desperately to place this into the best light possible. But right now, it’s not up to the propaganda media, it’s up to us, the constituents. Want this misadventure to end as soon as possible? Just point to your representatives and remind them, the Midterms are Coming. Saving face is not an option. Finish it or come home.
