I can’t watch the news anymore. I just don’t know what to believe. It seems that all of it is some form of propaganda, left-wing or right-wing sputtering from not just politicians and administration officials (I know, that’s redundant) but the people reporting the so-called news as well. People I used to like watching, thinking they were a refreshing break from the nonsense of the day, appear more and more to me as just paid political hacks trying to gaslight the public into believing whatever it is they’re pushing at the moment (war, economy, etc.). I mean, I’m okay with people being upfront as to their opinions. I watch a variety of videos online that will take different positions on a topic. Like the Iran war, for instance.

I can’t believe how many people are out there cheering on death and destruction of another people in another country, about which they know nothing other than what the government, or worse the TV news, has told them. Remember the girls school we accidentally bombed at the beginning of the conflict earlier this ear killing approximately 170 children? Sure, there were sad faces everywhere, for an hour or two, then they moved on. I remember when My Lai occurred in Vietnam. the outrage at home was intense and there were prosecutions in the end. Although maybe not all of the right people were held accountable. Still, it was a huge story at the time that today would take up a couple of segments on a news program.

Sure, mistakes happen and there is something called collateral damage in war, but when you’re using smart ordinance that can go through a bathroom window before detonating, it’s pretty hard to use that excuse when you destroy an entire girls school. As this war rages, from our end only, it doesn’t really appear that any of the Iranian people, in Iran, are interested in regime change. If so, they’d have been. in the streets already. But they’re not and that, I think, tells our leaders something, doesn’t it?

We were convinced to start this kinetic action with the idea that first, we’d knock their Iranian military completely out of the picture. Done. Well, mostly. At that point the same officials believed the Iranian people would begin an uprising, chasing the terrorists out of their country. Big-time Fail. We’re still waiting to see and I think we’ll be waiting a while. Think about it. In 2009 we had a great chance of helping Iran throw out the Islamist government. Nope. We sat back and watched them slaughter their own people. Roll forward to this past January. they came out in the streets again in the hundreds of thousands and according to reports, as many as 40,000 were killed by the government. We stood by and watched. why would they believe we would be there to assist them when we’ve ignored them before? Would you trust us to come to your aid?

There won’t be any boots on the ground. Well, at least not until after the midterm elections this year. After that? Well, Trumps gone after 2028 so he doesn’t have a dog in that fight. And what’s one more mid-east war? At least Israel will be happy.
