Was The Debate a really big event? I don’t know, I didn’t watch it mainly because a) I don’t care, and b) I can waste 3 or so hours of my day doing something else. I may be alone in my assessment of something I didn’t rearrange my day to be a passive participant in, but I haven’t been that interested in the whole topic, ever. I did, however, watch a few different reaction videos based on some posts I saw on X.

First of all, where did the number of 10 million live viewers come from? I did look at one point online and never saw anything that would indicate that much active interest. Well, it is a work day for most people and I doubt many employers would be okay with their personnel using company time to watch a YouTube event. Next, this was not a debate as far as I was able to tell by the posts of some on X and a couple of short reaction videos some hastened to upload (first online, first opinion setter). A debate consists of a proposition presented, and an affirmation or rejection of said proposal. It is not an interrogatory of one of the participants by the other. That’s the consensus of the format from what I’ve gathered.

So, who one? Well, it depends on which person you likely associate with more: Andrew Wilson or Candace Owens. I saw a lot of posts call out Candace for being, well, you name it and it was mentioned on X. Not so much with Andrew other than he came across as “overly aggressive” and “not knowledgeable” on the topic. At all. Patric Bet David, the moderator, I think did best at the end by not declaring anyone a winner and letting the viewers decide for themselves.

But there was at least one, decidedly bell-ringing moment during the interrogatory when Wilson asked Owens if she knew all the charges against the defendant. she said she did and asked him back. He wanted to use some sort of prompt but Candace egged him on to state at least one charge. He came back and challenged her to name all 7 but she told him, before that, to name one. He said, with a snark, murder (this clip was all over the net) and Candace immediately said, “wrong”. then they went back and forth with Wilson trying to trip Owen=s up while she ws trying to name them all and finally, the moderator stepped in to allow her to answer. She did Wilson then accused her of cheating, having someone get her the answer. That was soon resolved and to be honest, at that point, the “debate” should’ve been over. Why? It was clear Wilson knew nothing about the case, not even the charges leveled against the defendant and after charging Owens with cheating, the moderator should’ve put an end to the entire spectacle.

To me, that was the “debate” in whole. Andrew Wilson paid Candace Owens $300,000 to come out to her house and “debate” her for some 3 hours and for what? she was clearly not one of these 20 year old Only Fans girls he was used to “debating”. I saw a couple of clips of him attempting to intimidate her by talking over her and she remained calm and waited for him to exhaust himself. The bottom line? It was a good day for Candace Owens (she’s $300,000 richer) and a poor day for Andrew Wilson (whatever he was attempting to accomplish, he failed utterly).

People will only be looking at clips from now on and from what I’ve seen, if you take the aggregate of all of those, Candace Owens came out well. Was anything settled? I doubt it, there are people, 63 years on debating the assassination of John F Kennedy.
