I have been trying to not watch the news lately. It’s because I am frustrated by how our government is responding not only to international issues (yes, the WAR with Iran), but domestic problems as well.
It’s looking like the Republicans (self named “conservatives”) will lost both houses of Congress this yesr because voters are frustrated with a do-nothing “majority”. I did hear that the president was going to give every (voting?) adult $5,000 if they helped retain Republicns. What a joke. Of course the bill for that is more than a trillion dollars we don’t have, pushing up deficit spending and adding to our debt. Yes, I know he dsys it will come from the dividend of this grest economy, but how sbout instead of trying to bribe voters (isn’t that illegal?) that Congress lower all taxpaying Americans tax bill by that same $5,000. Doesn’t that make more sense? The entire population, not just those that vote one way, would benefit.
With the prices of fuel for our homes and transportation rising precipitously(and no matter how one views it, the curve is in the wrong direction, for most people) a tax cut equaling that $5,000 for middle and working class people would be a huge boon to home finances and maybe, just maybe, take a little bit of the burden off those hard working individuals and families. It would definitely add steam to the economy and so a win-win, overall.
And while we’re at it, how about ending this ridiculous conflict that we (America) started with Iran? Does it really matter if Iran develops a nuclear bomb when we have states like North Kirea, Pakistan, and India that are all nuclear capable. Remember not long ago when the news was reporting the escalating tension between India and and Pakistan and how close it seemed they were to a nuclear exchange? If anything, those 2 countriies are more of a threat right now than Iran. I’m not claiming Iran is a trustworthy player in the middle east. But cn we ignore the others that, right now, we are trusting to not start World War III?
Stop listening to self-interested, “friendly” states, and listen to the people that should be the only concern government has: it’s citizens.
