Over the holiday weekend, some electric customers in Arvada, Colorado got a surprise from that every sme electrical utility. It seems that a lot of customers signed up for a special deal in which they received a smart digital thermostat as we;; as $100 cash. Some 22,000 customers signed up for what looked like a really good deal that would also save money on their electric bill. It looks like all of these people forgot to read the agreement they signed up for because they all, suddenly, lost control of their thermostats when the temperature rose to 90 and thermostats were set to 78 by the electric company and customers were unable to change the setting. O’m far from a luddite but I don’t have anything important tied to the Internet. If the electric company can do this when it’s hot, what may they do when winter arrives?
